Mochi Kinling

Privacy Policy

The short version. Your photographs, your Kinlings, their passports and your notes all stay on your phone. There is no account, we never see any of it, and the app sends nothing to us — not even anonymous usage data. Your photographs are never used to train anything.

Who we are

Mochi Kinling is made by PTK Studio. This policy covers the Mochi Kinling iOS app and this page. If anything here is unclear, write to hello@ptk-studio.com and we'll answer plainly.

What stays on your device

All of it. Everything the app makes lives in its own storage on your phone:

The photographs you take or import, and the cut-out subjects made from them.
The artwork of each Kinling, and the pieces it is animated from.
Passports, stamps, names, life stages, bond, and the Life Story.
Any notes or photographs you add as memories.
Your settings.

We have no copy of any of it and we cannot read it. Deleting the app deletes it.

What we collect

Nothing. There is no analytics provider, no crash reporter, no advertising SDK, and no server of ours for the app to talk to. The app works with the network switched off, and in ordinary use it never opens a connection at all.

This is unusual enough to be worth stating plainly rather than burying: we do not know how many Kinlings you have made, what you photographed, or whether you opened the app today.

What we never collect

Your name, email address, phone number, or any account — there is no sign-up.
Your contacts, calendar, or microphone.
Precise location. If you turn on the optional setting that notes roughly where you found something, the coordinate is rounded to about a kilometre before it is saved, stays on your device, and is never shown as an exact spot.
Your advertising identifier. The app does not ask to track you across other companies' apps and websites, so you will never see an App Tracking Transparency prompt.

Permissions, and when they are asked for

Kinling asks for nothing when you first open it. Each permission is requested only at the moment you choose something that needs it, and refusing any of them leaves the rest of the app working:

Camera — only when you tap to take a photo.
Photo library — the app uses Apple's own photo picker, which hands over the single picture you choose without giving the app access to your library at all.
Location — only if you turn on the optional setting described above.
Notifications — off by default, and asked for once, later.

Artificial intelligence, and what it does not do

The app works out what kind of living thing is in your photograph using Apple's own on-device Vision framework. That happens on your phone. The picture is not sent anywhere to be analysed.

A future version may offer an optional "Illustrated Kinling" that redraws your subject using a service on the internet. It is not available in the current app. If it ships it will be opt-in, it will tell you exactly what is sent before anything is sent, and this page will be updated first. Either way, your photographs will never be used to train a model.

Sharing

When you export a passport card, the app builds a fresh image and hands it to iOS to share wherever you choose. It strips the photo metadata, leaves out where you found the thing, leaves out your private notes, and shows you a list of what it removed before you send it. Anything you have not explicitly marked as shareable stays behind.

Who else touches it

Nobody. There are no third-party services in the app.

Children

Mochi Kinling is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them — we do not collect personal information from anyone. There is no chat, no user-to-user messaging, and no public content in the app.

Your choices and rights

Delete individual things. Settings lets you delete a Kinling's original photograph, its generated artwork, or the whole Kinling. Each is separate, and each really removes the files.
Delete everything by deleting the app.
Ask us anything at hello@ptk-studio.com. Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information. We honour those requests regardless of where you live — though in Kinling's case the honest answer is usually that we hold nothing of yours to give back or erase, because it never left your phone.

Changes to this policy

If we change what the app collects, we'll update this page and change the date at the top before the change ships. Material changes will also be noted in the release notes.
