Who we are

Mochi NetProbe is made by PTK Studio. This policy covers the Mochi NetProbe iOS app and this page. If anything here is unclear, write to hello@ptk-studio.com and we'll answer plainly.

What stays on your device

All of it. Everything the app produces lives in its own storage on your phone:

• The devices each scan found — their addresses, hardware addresses, names, open ports and everything identified about them.
• Your scan history per network, which is how the app can tell you a device is new.
• Any name or note you attach to a device.
• Your settings.

We have no copy of any of it and we cannot read it. Deleting the app deletes it.

What we collect

Nothing. There is no analytics provider, no crash reporter, no advertising SDK, and no server of ours for the app to talk to.

This is worth stating plainly rather than burying, because a network scanner is exactly the kind of app where it would matter: we do not know how many devices are on your network, what they are, what you named them, when you last scanned, or whether you have opened the app at all.

What we never collect

• Your name, email address, phone number, or any account — there is no sign-up.
• Your contacts, photos, calendar, microphone, or camera.
• Your location, precise or otherwise.
• Your advertising identifier. The app does not ask to track you across other companies' apps and websites, so you will never see an App Tracking Transparency prompt.

Permissions, and when they are asked for

NetProbe asks for one thing:

• Local network access — requested the first time you scan, because finding the devices on your network is the whole app. iOS shows this prompt itself. The permission lets the app talk to other devices on the network you are joined to; it does not grant access to your files, your accounts, or anything on the internet.

That is the complete list. The app does not ask for location, camera, photos, contacts, microphone, or notifications.

What the app sends over your network

During a scan, NetProbe sends ordinary network requests to the devices on your own network and reads what they send back — the same kinds of request a browser, a printer driver or a music app already makes. It asks each device what it will freely say about itself. It does not attempt to log in, does not send passwords, and does not change any setting on any device.

Nothing about a scan leaves your network. Scan results are never uploaded, because there is nowhere for them to go.

The two things that reach the internet

Two features in the Tools tab deliberately go beyond your own network. Neither runs during a scan, and neither runs unless you tap it:

• WHOIS lookup. The domain or address you type is sent to the public WHOIS system — first to IANA, then to whichever registry IANA points at — which is how a WHOIS lookup works anywhere. Those operators see the query and your IP address. Only what you type is sent.
• Public IP address. If you tap "Look up" on the network card, the app makes one request to ipify.org, a free service whose only job is to reply with the address your request came from. It sends nothing about you or your devices; the address is simply what any web server would already see.

Neither result is stored anywhere but on your phone, and neither is sent to us.

Who else touches it

Nobody. There are no third-party services inside the app, and no data of yours is shared with, sold to, or processed by anyone. The two lookups above talk to public internet infrastructure at your request, and that is the extent of it.

Children

Mochi NetProbe is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them — we do not collect personal information from anyone. There is no chat, no user-to-user messaging, and no public content in the app.

Your choices and rights

• Clear your history in Tools → Known networks, which forgets every remembered network, the names you gave devices, and your notes.
• Delete everything by deleting the app.
• Ask us anything at hello@ptk-studio.com. Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information. We honour those requests regardless of where you live — though in NetProbe's case the honest answer is that we hold nothing of yours to give back or erase, because it never left your phone.

Changes to this policy

If we change what the app collects, we'll update this page and change the date at the top before the change ships. Material changes will also be noted in the release notes.
