Who we are

Mochi FramePop is made by PTK Studio. This policy covers the Mochi FramePop iOS app and this page. If anything here is unclear, write to hello@ptk-studio.com and we'll answer plainly.

Photos

FramePop reads a photo only when you hand it one — through the system photo picker, or from the camera when you take a picture inside the app. It never browses your library on its own.

A chosen photo is held in the app while you work, and used to render your video on the device. Some templates ask iOS to separate the subject from the background; that happens on your phone, using Apple's on-device Vision framework, and the result never leaves it. No photo, and nothing derived from a photo, is sent to us or to anyone else.

What stays on your device

• The videos you make, and the poster frames shown in the Videos tab.
• Which templates you've liked, and which packs you've added.
• Your settings.

These live in the app's own storage. We have no copy of them and cannot read them. Deleting the app deletes them. You can also delete videos individually, or all at once, in Settings.

What we collect

The app sends anonymous product-usage events to Statsig, our analytics provider, so we can understand which templates and features are worth making more of. Specifically:

• A random install identifier. When you first open the app it generates a random ID (a UUID) and stores it on your device. It is not your Apple ID, not your advertising identifier, and not tied to anything that identifies you. It exists only so that two events from the same phone can be recognised as related.
• Product interaction events. Which template you opened and which pack it came from, whether an export finished or failed and why, whether a pack was added, and whether a template was liked or a video shared. Events record template and pack names, video formats, counts and durations — facts about the app.
• Basic technical information that comes with any internet request, including your IP address, device model, and OS version. Statsig uses the IP address to infer a coarse region such as a country, and does not expose your precise location to us.
• Crash reports. If the app stops unexpectedly, it sends a report to Firebase Crashlytics, our crash-reporting provider. A report contains the stack trace — the list of steps in our own code that led to the stop — along with your device model, OS version, and how long the app had been running. It also carries an installation identifier generated by Firebase, separate from the one above and equally tied to nothing that identifies you. A crash report never contains a photo, anything derived from a photo, the words you typed, or the name of any file.

Everything the app can send is listed in one place in its source, so the whole vocabulary can be read at once — that is the only way we can make the promise below and mean it.

What we never collect

• Your photos, or anything derived from them. Not the pictures, not the subject cut-outs, not the videos you make. These are never uploaded and never analysed anywhere but on your own device.
• The words you type into a template, or the emoji you choose.
• Your name, email address, phone number, or any account — there is no sign-up.
• File names or file paths.
• Your contacts, calendar, microphone, or precise location.
• Advertising identifiers. FramePop shows no ads and is not part of any ad network, and nothing it collects is used to track you across other apps or websites.

Who else touches it

Statsig receives the usage events described above and nothing else. They process it on our behalf as our analytics provider.

Firebase Crashlytics, a Google service, receives crash reports and nothing else. It never receives the usage events, and the two are not joined up: we do not give Crashlytics the install identifier Statsig uses. We use only its crash-reporting product — not Google Analytics, and not any advertising or measurement service Google offers. There is no advertising partner, and no server of ours for anything to be sent to.

Two things are worth naming because they are yours, not ours. When you tap Share, iOS hands the video to whichever app or person you pick, and their policy applies from that point. And if you turn on Save to Photos automatically, a copy of your video goes into your own photo library, where iCloud Photos may sync it under your own Apple account settings.

How long we keep it

Usage events are kept by Statsig on our behalf for as long as they are useful for understanding how the app is used. Crash reports are kept by Firebase Crashlytics on our behalf, which retains them for up to 90 days. What is on your device stays until you remove it.

Your choices and rights

The usage data is anonymous and holds nothing that identifies you, so there is no account for us to look you up in. If you would like the events from your install removed, write to hello@ptk-studio.com and we will do it.

You can revoke FramePop's access to your photos at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos; the app still works, and will ask again the next time you pick a picture.

Children

FramePop is rated 4+. It asks for no personal information from anyone, including children, and the anonymous usage data described above identifies nobody.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and any change that affects what the app collects will be published here before the app that makes it.
