Privacy Policy

The short version. The whole country reference lives on your device and the app never fetches it. Your bookmarks and settings stay on your phone. We don't ask for your name or email, there are no accounts, and we never sell your data or use it to advertise to you. The app sends a small amount of anonymous usage data so we can see which countries people look up — and you can switch that off inside the app. Whatever you type into the search box is never sent anywhere.

Who we are

Worldly is made by PTK Studio. This policy covers the Worldly iOS app and this page. If anything here is unclear, write to hello@ptk-studio.com and we'll answer plainly.

What stays on your device

Your bookmarked countries.
Your settings — theme, and which section a country opens on.
The entire country database. It ships inside the app and is copied into local storage the first time you open it. Nothing about it is fetched or reported.

These live in the app's own storage on your device. We have no copy of them and we cannot read them. Deleting the app deletes them.

What we collect

The app sends anonymous product-usage events to Statsig, our analytics provider, so we can understand which countries and sections are worth expanding. Specifically:

A random install identifier. When you first open the app it generates a random ID (a UUID) and stores it on your device. It is not your Apple ID, not your advertising identifier, and not tied to anything that identifies you. It exists only so that two events from the same phone can be recognised as related.
Product interaction events. Which country you open and which of its sections you read, which region you browse, whether you bookmarked something, and whether a search found a match.
Basic technical information that comes with any internet request, including your IP address, device model, and OS version. Statsig uses the IP address to infer a coarse region (such as a country) and does not expose your precise location to us.

If the app crashes, it also sends a crash report to Firebase Crashlytics, so we can find and fix the fault. A report contains the technical state of the app at the moment it stopped — a stack trace, the device model and OS version, and a random identifier Crashlytics generates for the installation. It does not contain anything about what you were reading: no country, no search, no bookmark. The country database is stored on your device, and nothing about it is attached to a report.

We have deliberately not enabled Google Analytics on the Firebase project. Crash reporting is the only Firebase feature the app uses.

What we never collect

What you type into the search box. Search events record how many countries matched, and — only when a search narrows to exactly one country — which country that was. The text itself never leaves your device.
Your name, email address, phone number, or any account — there is no sign-up.
Your contacts, photos, calendar, microphone, or camera.
Precise location.
Your advertising identifier. The app does not ask to track you across other companies' apps and websites, so you will never see an App Tracking Transparency prompt.

How your information is used

Only to run and improve the app: to see which countries people look up, which sections they actually read, and whether a feature is worth keeping. That's the whole list.

We do not sell your data. We do not share it with data brokers. We do not use it for advertising, and there are no ads in the app.

Who else touches it

Two providers: Statsig, which processes the anonymous usage events described above, and Firebase Crashlytics (Google), which processes crash reports. Both act on our behalf and neither receives anything that identifies you.

How long we keep it

Anonymous usage events are retained by our analytics provider on a rolling basis and are deleted in the ordinary course. Because the events carry no identifying information, we generally cannot connect them back to a person.

Your choices and rights

Turn it off in the app. Open Settings and switch off Share anonymous usage data. That single switch stops both the usage events and the crash reports, immediately, and the app keeps working exactly as before — the reference is entirely offline, so nothing depends on either.
Stop the collection entirely by deleting the app. The install identifier is stored on your device, so removing the app ends the link for good.
Ask us questions, or ask us to delete something, by writing to hello@ptk-studio.com. Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to object to its processing. We honour those requests regardless of where you live. Please tell us enough for us to find the data — for anonymous analytics that is often not possible, and we'll say so honestly rather than pretend otherwise.

Children

Worldly is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change what we collect, we'll update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
